Getting Ready

We'll see how this, my third blog, goes. Man I am a dork. But I am excited about the coming year in triathlon and wanted to have a page devoted just to my training. It will help me keep up with what I'm doing and thinking, and if you are a tri-geek like me, it saves you from reading all the gory details of my life that aren't related to biking/running/swimming. Although this seems like a difficult task seeing as how these three activities are such a part of my life now.

Well, anywho, I am debating over two half ironmans for next year: the Harvest Moon on Sept. 12 in Aurora, CO; and the DeuceMan on May 31 in Show Low, AZ. I am also hoping to either join a team or get some coaching for 2009 and see how that helps me improve. I'm checking out a couple of options now. And, I want to do some fundraising to go along with the half ironman, because spending all of that time training just for me seems so selfish. So I'm also trying to figure out how to work that out. I would love to fundraise for the Faith Alive Clinic in Nigeria. I am anxious about this though because Chris and I also want to maybe go to this clinic in July and will need help funding the trip, so I don't want overextend my self fundraising-wise.

Unfortunately, I am not training at all because I have been sick for almost two weeks. I have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday to make sure I don't have some strange Amazonian bug. That would put a damper on things. Then I would have to do some fundraising for myself to pay some hospital bills, wouldn't that be fun? Despite this, I am excited about the 2009 season and can't wait to get started on some training. :)
